I didn’t see it when I was little, but now I’m beginning to notice a pattern of behaviour with my mother.

Step 1. Mum: says cunty thing
Step 2. Other person: calls her out on cunty thing and/or cunty thing has invoked angry response
Step 3. Mum: pretends step 1 never happened and step 2 was totally unprovoked. Goes totally into victim mode. Extra points if the cunty thing she said invoked an angry response with bad language, because then that’s all she will focus on - ‘don’t use that language with me/why can’t you converse like a decent person’ etc etc Double extra points if other person is quietly fuming or silent with disbelief for more than a few minutes, upon which Mum will sneer that the other person is ’sulking’ and or ‘childish’.

She’s managed to alienate all the rest of her family with this shit, even her sister who she had a really great relationship with. They want nothing to do with her anymore and don’t even send her christmas or birthday cards. I’m literally all she has. I always stuck by her as best I could, but now I can see her doing it to me, and I’m just wonder…how much longer can you keep up the illusion that you’re *never* to blame? When every single last member of your family and friends has had enough of your negativity and moved away from you? At what point does it get through your skull that hey, maybe if I don’t want people angry at me, I should stop being a cunt? Fucking hell.

The shitty thing is she’s actually a really nice and generous person most of the time…it’s just that when you get into an argument she never wants to accept blame for *anything* and she’s *always* got to be right and it’s so emotionally taxing to be around people like that.

I can’t even look forward to the day I move out and get my own breathing space, because she’s partially disabled and I’m her unofficial carer.

Ugh.
