Pets cost money. No veterinary care is for free. Why do people expect a licensed veterinarian (who paid for schooling for 8 yrs) to treat their animals for free? How are they going to support their families? Animals are a luxury. If you can’t afford treatment, maybe you shouldn’t get a pet. And the excuses… I’m on disability, this is my service dog, my brother’s sister’s wife’s son’s cousin died, we just moved into town, I get paid next month, can I make payments? You can’t make payments because our last payment option was abused by 90% of clientel that said they WOULD pay. Now the collections is up to over 500million dollars. Did I stutter? Now, payment is up front because of all the people that helped rescue these poor helpless creatures that they couldn’t afford in the first place. And euthanasia is never an option. My pet is suffering! Well, maybe you should put it to sleep. No, I can’t do that. Okay, let it suffer a slow painful death, you’ve only let it suffer for a week now. But no, you didn’t bring it to the vet when you first noticed symptoms. Thought you’d wait it out for a week, then bring it to the emergency clinic where it costs twice as much, and then expect it to be free. Unbelievable. And when you’re here, keep asking how much longer it’s going to be. Have you ever been to a human ER? I think waiting 30min at a pet ER beats waiting 8hrs at a human ER. Please bitch to me about how much it costs. Please. I just work here. I didn’t personally set these prices. And there’s nothing I can do about it. So please, yell at me, insult me- passive-agressively is much appreciated. And do come in under the influence so I can call the police. It’s always nice when you’re drunk or on meth. That makes me really happy.

I totally agree with you. I have two cavies and I have $400 in a designated account for any emergency vet bills as well as pet insurance for bigger bills. To date I have only needed $130 of it but I’m glad I have it just in case. If you want to keep pets then you need to think about the bills and whether or not you can afford it!
