WTF why is my family full of ungrateful pricks.

My mother and I have been talking about getting the living room tidy and clean so we could put up the Christmas tree, but she’s been so tired lately I kept saying ‘let me do it’, I didn’t want her wearing herself out in the run up to the holidays. So last night after she went to bed I thought I’d suprise her, I tidied everything, swept up the dust and moved the furniture around in the way we’d been discussing. I’m quite small and the furniture is heavy so it took me till 3 in the morning but it looked great.

I come down for breakfast the next day all hopeful to see her enjoying it and she starts picking fault about *evertyhing* like ‘I thought we were going to do this together’. I said ‘I just had a flash of inspiration and knew I could to it myself, I didn’t you you to trouble with it.’ I asked, ‘doesn’t it look great?’ and she says no and starts pointing out that she doesn’t like the sofa where it is now, it looks clunky, and I’m like ‘we discussed moving it there and you okayed it, and now the living room has more space’, and she just keeps bitching and bitching. She’s even gone and moved around all the photos that I moved last night.

I’m so fucking fed up, like I’m so fucking sorry for doing this nice thing and making your holidays so much easier for you mother, I think the word you’re looking for is THANK YOU. She didn’t even say thank you once. I had to prod her that I’d stayed up late especially to do a good deed and she’s like ‘oh thanks for TRYING to do a good deed’. How fucking passive aggressive is that? Honestly i think she’s only grumpy because she likes to have control over everything so even if it looked perfect she’d still bitch just because she didn’t do it herself.
